3 Weeks - Big Changes!

Good Morning!

Not only was our little bug 3 weeks old yesterday, but her day was filled with BIG adventures!

Zig and I have been very closely watching that little navy blue umbilical cord belly button for her first weeks of life. While it's still hanging on, you have to treat it with alcohol until it eventually dries up and falls off - and no REAL tub until it's gone! Cousin Marlee's fell off at exactly 2 weeks, so we were expecting it to happen a long time ago - and in the last few days it kept getting more and more loose!

At every diaper change, I was loosening it as much as I could but it was hanging on by a thread! The belly button issue is sorta like a present at Christmas time - you don't know what's underneath - an 'innie' or an 'outie!' Zig has been laughing at me for the past week because I keep saying "Hunny - I think she might have an 'outie' under there!"

So yesterday morning, at her 8:00 diaper change and feeding, the belly button was still there, and back to sleep she went for the morning. When she was ready to eat again at 11:30 and as Daddy was coming through the door for lunch, I lifted her onsie to see the most beautiful belly button in the entire world! The dried up cord had finally come off and was stuck in her onesie just waiting for me to find it!

For two years now, I've been saying that Joshua has the cutest 'outie' belly button I've ever seen - and Brooke's looks just like his! I love it!

So - our first thought - "Now we can give her a real tubbie in her awesome pink bathtub!" Hooray!...except for the fact that she HATES getting a tubbie...

Since last night was tub night anyway, we decided to go ahead and try giving her a real, big girl tub! I talked to her about it all day! Every time she was eating, I told her how she was "Mommy's Big Girl with a REAL belly button," and that now she could be a big girl in her pink tub! Knowing that she wasn't nearly as excited as I was, we prepared for the screams of the century!

After an evening of visiting with our great friends Jubby and Bobbie, we prepared the tub in the bathroom and got out the video camera! Daddy filmed while Brookie got undressed and laid down for the first time in the tub! She HATED IT...every second of it! The water was warm enough and I bathed her as fast as I could, but Zig and I couldn't help but giggle as she screamed!

She was cleaner than ever and smelled so yummy that I wanted to eat her up - but she was absolutely traumatized by her first big girl tub experience!

Everyone says that she'll learn to love it, but I'm not so sure about this one...she seems to have her mind made up, and she IS my daughter, which could mean that we're in for a LONG ride!

Unfortunately, we didn't take any still pictures of the tub experience, so I'll have to learn how to upload pieces of the video... We'll try to remember to take some next time...

We are enjoying a quiet day at home today, but tomorrow we are heading out to IVMS to visit with my teacher friends after dismissal time! I'm so excited to see everyone and show her off to the people who watched me get bigger by the MINUTE last school year!

Whether its a lazy day at home or an outing into the big big world out there - I guess we are officially the proud parents of a big girl...all 3 weeks of her!
