Hi All!
An eventful weekend has caused a very SLOW moving Libby on this freezing Monday afternoon!
We had a great weekend rekindling some friendships with old friends! Zig and I met at home on Friday after work and went to my parent's house for an amazing supper of steak and spaghetti! My Dad is an incredible cook - and my mom always makes the perfect sides to complete the meals! Zig and I always say, "We don't eat like this in Burnham!" Needless to say, we get very excited when my Mom calls and says "Do you have supper plans for the night?" The answer is always "Nope - we'll see you at 5:30!"
After supper, we traveled back to the big city of Burnham to make a stop at our newest neighbors house on 4th Avenue! One of our dearest friends Jubby and his wife Bobbie were recently married and moved to the avenues! We hadn't yet been able to get to their house, since I don't usually feel good in the evenings. It seemed that every time Zig asked if I wanted him to call Jub to see if we could stop over, I was never quite feeling up to it! Zig and Jubby had made plans earlier in the week to have a visit on Friday night and I'm so glad they made those plans. We had such a great time visiting, taking a tour of their house and all of their decorating, and just catching up with old friends. Jubby and I go WAY BACK - I mean WAY BACK...he truly is one of my dearest friends. I only wish that we would have stayed so close over the years. Our adulthood walked us through different paths in life, but I'm so glad that we have made our way back... Zig and Jub got to be close friends when he and I were dating in high school. They kept contact while he and I were broken up, and I think that their friendship, in a way, actually kept the love between Zig and I alive. Jubby was one of our biggest supporters! He never understood why we doubted our relationship! He still swears to this day that he always knew that Zig and I would end up back together and married! I guess we should have listened a long time ago!
After a late evening on Friday, we decided that we enjoyed each other's company so much, that we invited them to our house Saturday night for supper and drinks - minus Mommy and baby of course! Zig cooked steak on the grill and made a special request for pasta salad! I even baked a cake for our house guests! We had a blast - continuing our conversations from the night before, laughing, and sharing stories! Zig, Jub, and Bobbie enjoyed adult beverages while it was all I could do to eat a few bites of supper... We spent most of the evening (until midnight) lounging in the living room, watching TV, and talking. What a great evening with old and NEW friends! Zig and I are already looking forward to our spring and summer parties on the patio with the newest members of the "Burnham Gang!"
In the world of pregnancy - I've been feeling some pressure very low in my belly! I truly hope that these are growing pains in the early stage of this process! I am now officially 8 weeks and 2 days prego, so I know that there are TONS of monumental changes happening inside of me. Other than the G-ROSS feeling that I have ALL THE TIME, and my ever painful (GOD, DON'T TOUCH ME) sore boobs, this pressure feeling is the latest craze in the world of Baby Wray!
Sunday = Libby spent all day on the couch. When I say all day, I truly mean from the time I woke up, to the time I went to sleep! Kathy and John even came to visit and I didn't move from the couch! Every time I stood up, I was dizzy and felt the urge to hurl, so I didn't get up if I didn't need to! I even passed up a trip to the Downtown OIP so I could stay home and avoid the public humiliation that pregnancy might cause! I was sooooo sick of laying around that, by the end of the evening, I was ready to run around outside - and I probably would have if it wouldn't have been so blasted cold!
Which brings me to the title of this post...
HOORAY for a 2 Hour Delay this morning! I actually didn't miss this one! Thanks to my Mother and her 'teacher wisdom,' I remembered to look on the internet before getting in the shower! I went back to sleep for an hour and was actually able to take my time getting ready for school!
Even though delays make my 6th graders HOLY TERRORS throughout the day, I don't mind! We all get a little restless during these winter days!
There seems to be reports of bad weather for the next few days as well...Don't tell my boss or my students, but I am forever hoping for snow days and delays! I guess I'm still a student at heart!
Lots to look forward to this week!
We have finally made it within hours of our appointment with Georgette! I am going to beg and plead down on my knees to have an ultrasound scheduled as soon as possible. Since we have winter break and don't have school Friday or Monday next week, maybe they'll agree to schedule something for one of those days! I'm DYING to see this little peanut and it's ticker - just hoping that everything is OK at this stage in the game.
At this stage in my first pregnancy, our angel baby's heart only kept beating a few more days...so, if we can get passed this stage with this new little creature, my mind will be able to find some peace.
I'll be sure to post again after we meet with Georgette! I can't wait!

Bring on some MORE snow Libby! No school! woo hoo. Hopefully you're sleeping in and can enjoy the day off without being too "green around the gills." Hang in there...you'll feel better soon and it being pukey will just be a bad memory! :-) Cathy
