Growth Spurt!

The last week has been a whirlwind! Time really flies when you're busy...

To update you on my 6th graders and how I 'spilled the beans' last week - they have been incredible! They ask me how I'm feeling, they have (surprisingly) done an amazing job of keeping the secret, and they've even brought me gifts!
The little one who asked the question that got everything started in the first place came this morning with a beautiful package just for me! It was a pin of a stork holding a baby and it was called the "Baby on the Way Angel." It was attached to a small poem about how "babies are carried to us on the wings of angels..." It brought tears to my eyes and I was so thankful for this gift! I've had it on all day - she was so proud to see me excited!

There seems to be a few developments going on in the 'underbelly.'

This might sound absolutely absurd, but as true as I sit here today, I can literally FEEL myself getting bigger! No kidding!
For the last few days I've been so hungry that it's almost beyond my control! I can't eat enough to keep my belly full! For example, yesterday, I started the day with Frosted Flakes, a large bagel, a cup of hot tea, Stromboli and pizza for lunch, Butterscotch Krimpets, a bag of popcorn, and Starburst jelly beans, WHEW! And this was all before supper!
It seems that supper time is the time when I'm STARVING...but nauseated by the idea of eating! So even though Zig has been grilling me wonderful food, and it smells delicious, I don't normally eat much supper. What makes me crazy about that is that not an hour after I clean up after supper, I'm hungry again... It's a never-ending process!

My sister said that this hunger has to be related to the baby growing and needing more help from me up here...but jeez!

So as the night continued, I started getting these muscle-stretching feelings in my stomach. It was mostly low and near my hips on both sides. I couldn't get comfortable on my couch because of the weird feelings in my stomach muscles and hips! So weird...

When I went to sleep, I told Zig that my stomach hurt, but it wasn't pain - a pain that I thought I should be worried about. He felt my stomach and was really surprised at how hard it felt... So it seemed that my uterus was growing and I could feel things happening! Kinda gross in a way...

When I woke up this morning, my stomach felt like I had just done 300 sit ups! My muscles ached and I still had that pain in my hips! THEN, when I tried to put on my pants (that, by the way, FIT VERY WELL on Tuesday) to get ready for school, I couldn't button them! What is going on!!??

I know they say that with each pregnancy, you start showing sooner and sooner. I wouldn't think that after an unhealthy pregnancy, this would still apply! But this is a little ridiculous - I'm 12 weeks and showing! Can't be good - probably means I'm going to be LARGE and IN CHARGE by the end of this whole ordeal! Oh dear...

Needless to day, I wore my first maternity outfit to school today...and I'm loving every second of it! I think I might start to just let it all out and not be concerned about whether or not I'm supposed to be showing! I can't compare myself to other (skinny) people who might not show right away...every pregnancy is different...and who knows, maybe there really is MORE THAN ONE peanut in there after all!

11 Days until we see Dr. Grill to listen to the heartbeat!
15 days until I get to see my sister and MY FAVORITE MAN!

More soon...as I get bigger by the minute! (Which reminds me - I need to take some belly pictures!)

How awesome that you're starting to feel "things" and experience some good symptoms- like a growing belly and too-tight pants. That just means that the baby is doing exactly what it's supposed to do- grow into a strong little person we can love. Enjoy maternity clothes and enjoy every second of the new fun!

It sounds like this baby already has a Richard appetite...bring on the homemade ice cream and Hartley's chips!

Can't wait to see your growth spurt in person in a few short weeks!
