"The beans are officially spilled!"

Happy Friday!

What an exciting week it has been for Mrs. Wray! It was exactly 2 weeks ago today that I told my very first group of sixth graders about my pregnancy! Their excitement and words of advice have stayed with me and always will...and I knew the time would come that I would be telling the other classes as well! And this, my friends, was the week for that!

I was trying desperately to wait until Zig and I see Dr. Grill again on Monday to officially tell my kids, but on Monday, one lovely sixth grader from the first class that I told came to me with this news... "Mrs. Wray, do you know that your whole first period class knows you're pregnant!?" It must have been the shocked look on my face that made her explain, because this question was followed by a few confessions of "spilling my beans" to other students! They are way too cute, because they were truly sorry for telling...they just couldn't keep it to themselves anymore!
So it was on that day that I decided to start telling the rest of the kids...

Later that day, I was able to share the news with my 5th period group, which is also the group I have for Health class, and the class that I wanted to tell FIRST, since we will soon be starting the "Baby Chapter!" They couldn't have been more excited and they had a million questions to add to my list of doozies :) I just love this group! They were so concerned about being a part of this baby's life! They wanted to know when I would be bring the baby into school to see THEM! They were 'secretly' planning a baby shower and asking me how long they would have to wait to see some pictures of this little peanut! What a fun conversation we had!

The next day, I was preparing to tell a few more classes, and it was during my 5th period class that one student in my 7th period class stopped me in the hallway and asked to speak with me 'in private!' She looked very upset and concerned about something, so I pulled her in my room and shut the door - preparing myself for the 'girlie drama' that was probably coming my way! The conversation went something like this:
Student: "I just wanted you to know that people are saying things about you, and I think you have a right to know."
Me: "Ok hunny, tell me what's being said."
Student: "Everyone is saying you are pregnant, and I just think that is so inappropriate."
Me: "Wow! Thank you for telling me about this. You should be proud of yourself for doing the right thing and telling me what was happening. Now, let me share something with you: The rumor is TRUE!"

Her entire demeanor changed! She went from being really upset and concerned to being almost relieved and happy for me! Later on, when her class got to me, I let her share the news with the rest of the group! She felt so proud and the rest of the group was very happy!

Back in December, just before Christmas break (and just before this baby was made!) I had a conversation that has stayed with me. In small talk, she asked about the picture of Zig on my desk. She asked how long we had been married and if we had any children.

When I told her that we didn't yet have kids, she said "Mrs. Wray, you'll be a good Mom. You should make it your New Year's Resolution to have a baby!"
It was kind of our little secret, so when she heard that the rumors were true, she had the most beautiful smile on her face. This is a young lady with a lot of issues at home that affect her at school, and seeing the connection that we made - absolutely warmed my heart.

The ever-so-famous class that 'already knew my secret' was getting very anxious for me to finally tell them! I waited all week and didn't say a word - only because this class is so far behind that we didn't have any extra time during our regular 50 minutes! But today, I finally made it official and share the news with them! They were relieved to finally hear it from me and not have to keep waiting for me to spill it!

I never knew how much fun it would be to share this news with my students! But like I said in an earlier post, these kids are my world - and seeing them truly happy for me and anxious to go through this with me, makes me just adore them even more!

So...
13 weeks today! Each day, I become more and more calm about this pregnancy! Knowing that we are pretty much out of danger is the greatest feeling in the world!
I can't wait to see Dr. Grill on Monday and try to hear that little ticker...

We still need your prayers and happy thoughts for all good reports at our appointment! We're not out of the woods yet!

With the beans officially spilled for the week, a restful weekend with my growing belly is just what the doctor ordered!
