What a whirlwind the past few days have been! Last week was spent in much anticipation and hope that our test results would come back looking good... After good news upon more good news, (which we are so thankful for) a weekend with friends and family was JUST what the doctor ordered!
Friday, I rushed home from school to meet Manda and head to Harrisburg for an evening of shopping! It was really kind of strange to spend time with JUST Manda...it's always us, plus the husbands, plus the kids! We love the time we spend together as families, but it really was nice to get out - just us girls! It almost felt like our college days at LHU together...but better! We had a delicious meal at The Olive Garden - which was an absolute treat for Manda since Brandon won't ever take her there! We chatted and giggled the whole time before heading across the plaza to...BABIES R US! Manda had gift cards from Christmas and money to spend, so why not celebrate a good week of doctor's reports with a trip to BABY CENTRAL! I loved looking through all of the baby gear and accessories. It was almost overwhelming...I didn't even know where to start looking! Since we are so early in this pregnancy, it seemed silly for me to actually buy much now, since after showers and friendly gifts, I'm sure I'll have much of what I need. I just bought a few fun things - burpies, binkies, and a first aid kit for the nursery! Manda already bought the baby a bath towel and wash cloths... Thanks Momma!
Saturday morning, Zig and I got up and went out for breakfast, then went to Gram Joyce's to share the news with her. All of Zig's cousins were slowly learning our good news and we didn't want her to be the last to know... I'm beginning to feel guilty about not telling my side of the family yet, but I know it won't be long. After our visit with Gram and Zig's Aunt Kim, I apparently hadn't gotten my fix of shopping for the week, and I headed over the mountain for a nice, quiet shopping trip by myself. I came home with new bed sheets from Bed, Bath and Beyond, and a few maternity tops from Target. I had so much fun "shopping like a Mom!" I really need to practice some self control!
Saturday afternoon, Kathy and John came to our house, spent some nice visit time with us, then we all headed over to my parent's house for "Dad Burgers" and drinks from Club Bob - me excluded, of course! We had such a nice visit! We had a blast telling stories and getting excited for the new addition to our families! Kathy couldn't help but warn me time after time about what kind of baby I might have - how if he's anything like his Daddy, I'm in for a treat! Oh dear... As much as I love Zig and all of his quirks, I'd love nothing more than a miniature version of him...
Sunday, my wonderful husband came to church with me, which actually turned out to be extra special since my cousin Jeaninne was being installed as Associate Pastor in our church and my whole Richard family was there to celebrate! "Neen" was a huge part of our marriage ceremony and we were happy to be a part of this new phase of her life! What an amazing journey she is traveling! After church, Zig and I went out to lunch to discuss our new 'renovation' project that will be beginning shortly in our home.
Long story short - my parents offered us the bed from my old room at their house - since it matches the furniture I brought with me... Even though the back room of our house was almost completely turned into the nursery already, Zig and I both decided that we are going to make the front bedroom the nursery and turn the back room into a guest room for Grammy Kathy or Aunt Meggie and Cousin Joshua when they come to visit! So...after some furniture is moved, some paint is slapped on the wall, and the "blue room" gets new carpet, we'll have 3 functional bedrooms in our wonderful home! Zig has taken over the changes since I can't paint or do any heavy lifting these days... I can't wait to see how the whole thing turns out!
As the days have passed, I have had my moments of feeling queasy and nauseous. As strange as it sounds, I am welcoming the sickness with open arms! The sick belly means that magic is happening and the baby is growing! And on top of that, for all those who truly want to know, my chest couldn't be more swollen or painful! AND, though I know that my sporadic sleeping habits are only getting started, I hardly can relax at night in a comfortable position - I swear that NO POSITION exists that doesn't hurt "the girls!"
It's only just begun!
23 more days until our appointment with Georgette - but who's counting??

Our own room at your house? Wow! Shall I make my reservations now? It's funny- because I often refer to our spare room as "Libby's room" since you're the one who uses it the most...
Can't wait to see how it turns out!
See you Friday!!
I had a great time shopping, it was nice cause I don't get to do that very often, Have fun with the nursery, that is one of the best parts of being pregnant, is getting ready! Megan- you will have to save Joshua's outfits for baby Wray, I didn't want to say anything on your blog since it is still a secret to some people!
