I've never been accused of being the most patient person in the world, and this waiting game is going to be the toughest part of my pregnancy! I did everything I could to try to make the time go by quickly between the blood tests on Monday and Wednesday... I cleaned, corrected LOTS of papers from my students, did loads of laundry, and tried to focus my mind of positive thoughts for this baby.
I think my favorite way of passing the time was my phone conversation with Leah - a.k.a. "Mrs. Noerr!" Leah and Scott are really good friends of ours, and we were so excited to go through the "baby-making" woes together! The Noerr's were happy to hear that they are expecting a baby in July of this year, so I couldn't wait to tell Leah that we would be having a "playmate" for baby Noerr a few months later! We had a great talk and were just so excited to discuss how our lives were about to change! I'm so thankful for a friend like Leah to go through this pregnancy journey with!
We've already decided that, since we'll both be home for a few months during the school year, that we'll have to have play dates with the kids in the early fall months!
And now, for the Baby Wray News Update:
I couldn't wait for Wednesday to come, since I would be heading into the hospital again for round #2 of the needle-sticking game! I knew that within hours, I would hear from Dr. Grill's office to tell me how the HCG levels looked and maybe even hear my due date! This would be the first step towards knowing whether this baby is healthy as it grows...
After being "stuck" TWICE because the nurse MISSED in my left arm, I went home for a relaxing lunch, then came back to school to await the phone call!
It seemed like FOREVER until my phone rang around 2:00 yesterday afternoon! It was Cindy, Dr. Grill's nurse, saying that the tests so far "looked wonderful!" She told me that the levels had jumped from 486 on Monday to close to 1100 by Wednesday! The hormone levels are supposed to at least double within 48 hours, and mine surpassed doubling by quite a bit!
I spoke with Cindy about whether or not I would be able to see the doctor any sooner because of the miscarriage. She understood my concern and said that he would probably be seeing me within a few weeks, which really makes me feel a lot better!
When I asked her about my possible due date, she told me it was very early, but from what she can tell, we can expect a baby around Saturday, September 20! So...CLEAR YOUR CALENDARS PEOPLE, Baby Wray is on it's way!!
I was able to share the good news with Meg, Manda, my Mother-in-Law, then my parents at choir practice last evening... And of course, Zig was the first call I made to let him know that things looked really good with the blood work!
We have to wait until the next round of testing comes back before we will be able to see the nurse/midwife, and then get an appointment scheduled with Dr. Grill. We're also hoping for an ultrasound somewhat early to see the little ticker on this baby! That will definitely ease our minds... So this waiting game continues until we hear from the doctors again. This next test will tell us about my progesterone levels and how they are developing to support a growing baby. Here's to hoping for another good test result!
For as early as we are in this pregnancy, this news was about as good as it can get! Although I will worry about every little twinge, pain, or feeling in my stomach after the miscarriage, I know that God is working on this tiny miracle in my belly, and I want to spend every second being THANKFUL instead of doubtful.
I'll post again as soon as we hear from Dr. Grill's office regarding our next round of appointments! Stay tuned!

I am so glad that your test results came back, and that they were great! That has to make you feel good. I am not sure what day of the week the 20th is but if I have to work I am calling off:) This baby may come early so maybe I will clear my calendar for the whole month of September!hehe I was telling Halle and Max about the good news, Halle has her practice with brother Max so she will be ready for when baby Wray arrives. We can't wait!
Love and prayers
Manda
There sure is a whole bunch of "hurry up and wait" associated with this whole thing, but I hope you're enjoying every single second of the anticipation. There's so much mystery to enjoy- wondering what this peanut will look like, whether he'll be calm and wonderful like Amanda's kids or a hurricane like my little monkey. It's all so wonderful- although that's easy for me to say since I'm not the one actually doing the first hand waiting! As the weeks go on, there will be much to do...so time will start ticking by quickly. Just think- we'll get a caravan together for Babies R Us, we'll get you pampered with preggo massages, the whole bit! It's going to be a wonderful 36 more weeks or so.
My schedule is cleared for the week prior and the week following September 20th. You're going to have to beat me away with a stick.
Did you catch my Freudian slip in calling the baby "he"? Hmmmmm...
