As I slowly come down off of cloud nine, I wanted to update my blog in order to express my excitement of the events of today!
We had our regular weekly appointment with Dr. Grill at 1:00 and were ready for whatever he would tell us about how much longer this pregnancy was going to last! I started bugging him weeks ago about getting 'started' as soon as possible, but we also feel strongly about doing what is best for Brooke - so, our conversation went like this...
Doc - "So, you're 37 weeks and 4 days, what are you gonna do about it?"
Me - "The question is, what are YOU gonna do about it?"
Doc - "Nothing - at least not this week. But next week, we'll do it."
Me - "We're inducing next week? Seriously?"
Doc - "This what you wanted, right? Everything is great, so let's do it next week!"
We continued to talk about what the plan would be. He warned me of all of the risks involved and wanted to make sure that we understand that we could very well end up having a C-Section if Brooke just isn't quite ready to arrive.
He asked that we come into his office next Tuesday morning for an exam. He wants to check my cervix and make sure everything is still great with the baby - then start the process of labor. He will use Cervidil to get my cervix to dilate and contractions to start. Whether he sends me home to relax before coming in, or he sends me right to Labor and Delivery will depend on my cervix and if anything is happening on its own.
Not only do we now know that there is light at the end of this LONG tunnel, but we know that she will be here either Tuesday or Wednesday next week! Which means that she is bound to be born on either Zig's or Shanty's birthday! That was Zig's first thought - we hope she comes the 10th...just another way to honor his Dad and remember him forever!
Unfortunately, Grammy Kathy had already started planning a cook-out for Zig's birthday, which we might have to adapt and move to the L&D floor of Lewistown Hospital! I guess this little one will get to choose whether to join in on the celebration or to share her day with Pappy Wray... Either way, I'm DAYS AWAY from not being pregnant anymore, we are DAYS AWAY from meeting our precious baby girl, and we are DAYS AWAY from changing our entire lives together.
Zig and I are about to become a family - with a child to show for the love that we have shared for 11 years... What more could anyone ask for!?
