Hi All!
I wanted to update you all on our most recent appointment with Dr. Grill.
We started off our visit by waiting for almost an hour to see him, since he was delivering a baby at Labor and Delivery, but we finally got our time with him and it was worth the wait!
Our appointment was a regular check up, with the exception of a new test - there always seems to be a TEST that needs to be done! Jeesh...
I was up another 2 pounds, my blood pressure was great, and my urine sample was right on track! Listening to her heartbeat, Nurse Cindy said she was thumping at a rate of 155... If you remember from our last visit, her heart rate was very high, so this was much more normal!
So this new test...
We will be 35 weeks tomorrow, so it was time for the Group B Strep test. It was a simple Q-Tip swab, but one that BURNED really badly! Dr. Grill just teased me about complaining, but it just didn't feel right.
After the test, he measured my belly and told me that everything looked exactly as it should. There is no way that he DOESN'T know that I'm ready for this pregnancy to be over and for this 'labor stuff' to get started...but he encouraged me to get "at least to 36 weeks!" Since that's right around the corner, I think I can find a little bit more patience somewhere deep down inside!
After the appointment, Zig went back to work and I came home to call my Mom and Megan to update them with the appointment info, ate some lunch, watched Y&R, and did some cleaning.
When I finally got a minute to visit the Ladies Room, I noticed a pretty significant amount of blood in the toilet on the paper. I remembered the burn from the Group B test and had the same feeling while I 'went,' so I figured that I should at least call the Dr.'s office to make sure this was normal.
I spoke with Georgette - who is just the BEST - and she assured me that my cervix is extremely sensitive right now and Dr. Grill may have scraped it during the test this morning. She said the discomfort and the bleeding was normal, but to sit down for at least the next hour, check again and call them if I am still bleeding, especially in significant amounts! YIKES!
I'm pretty sure that everything is fine, and like Meg said, at least I'll be going to the restroom a million times a day and will have plenty of opportunity to check and be sure things are looking normal down there!
The best news of the day - we are now on the EVERY WEEK appointment schedule from now to the end! So, our next appointment is only 5 days away! We will see Dr. Grill again on Tuesday, August 19 and probably have our first exam to see what kind of progress this baby girl is making! YAY!
I'm telling you what - if this baby doesn't soon arrive, I might go insane!
In other news...
We are waiting for Zig's brother Scub and his wife Stephanie to welcome their baby girl to the world! It could be any day now - and we couldn't be more excited! Big sister Zoe told us last night that she is ready for her sister to come, but even more ready to start Pre-School in a few weeks! Sounds about right for a 4-year old!
Only 2 more days until I get to head to Milton for my weekend with Joshua! The "hurricane" himself is still struggling in the sleep department, so I might have my work cut out for me - but there is no one I'd rather see at 3:00 am or be sleep deprived for than my MAN! He's apparently already talking about Aunt Ibby's arrival and how excited he is to show Uncle Zig his 'fizer trucks' and other new toys!
I'm sure I'll be hijacking Brooke's site with Joshua pictures from the weekend, but I'll be sure to post again after our next appointment early next week!
Until next time...
